Michelle DeJohnette

Probate Paralegal


Michelle grew up in Chicago, Illinois and worked for large national law firms in downtown Chicago before she decided to relocate to Southern California in 1998.  She attended the University of Riverside - Extension where she obtained her Paralegal Certificate.  She maintains communication between clients and attorneys, assists with multiple facets of the probate process, and drafts legal documents. She provides a friendly and informative resource for clients helping them throughout the probate process. She works diligently to meet the needs of clients by addressing concerns quickly and in making sure that cases move forward in the most timely manner possible.


Michelle joined the Shoup Legal team in October of 2019.  She demonstrates dedication and enthusiasm for her work and strives to provide excellence to our clients. She is highly regarded for both her professionalism and her sincere concern for meeting our client’s needs and for helping to maintain a sense of teamwork within the office.


She worked previously as a Paralegal instructor at Sage College, until they closed their doors.  Michelle is also a Mediator for Riverside County Superior Court conducting mediations in small claims court through Riverside Community Action Partnership, she also has served as a notary public for over 20 years.  Throughout her 30 years in the legal field, she has worked at large to small boutique firms in various positions, she has worked in civil litigation, employment law and probate and estate planning.


Michelle enjoys Chicago Steppin' and line dancing, and in the summer months, you will find her either kayaking or sailing as captain on a sail boat.  She enjoys spending time with her two grand children attending their sports events and taking a yearly “Bubbacation” with them.
