Have You Been Named A Trustee or Personal Representative?

February 16, 2016

Have you been named personal representative for the probate of a will, or a trustee for management and distribution of a trust?  If so, you may have questions about this responsibility, and what steps you must take as a fiduciary.  The two roles are different in scope, but have the same essential task of overseeing the distribution of assets to beneficiaries.  This may include managing bank accounts, transferring title to property, securing and storing valuables or even ensuring that there is ongoing care of minor children.

Because there are specific procedures to follow under California law, many representatives and trustees will rely on legal counsel to make certain that all requirements are met, and to handle any formal hearings.  Please contact us if you have questions about this very important role, and how to fulfill your responsibilities.
