What is a Certified Specialist?

The State Bar certifies attorneys as specialists who have gone beyond the standard licensing requirements.

At Shoup Legal, we believe in expertise you can trust. A Certified Specialist is an attorney who has gone above and beyond the standard licensing requirements set by the State Bar of California.

To earn this certification, an attorney must pass a thorough written exam in their area of practice, show significant experience, complete ongoing education, and receive strong recommendations from other attorneys and judges who know their work.

Only attorneys certified by the California Board of Legal Specialization—or by an accredited organization meeting the State Bar’s high standards—can call themselves Certified Specialists in California. This ensures you’re working with a true expert committed to providing you with the best legal guidance.
